  4. This release of CCHESS:

  7.      o    This is the third release of CCHESS (version 1.0 was released
  8.     8/14/87 with PC-VCO).  A few enhancements have been made, and few
  9.     problems corrected.
  10.  
  11.      o    This version of CCHESS will not support paged redisplay with versions
  12.     of COM-AND later than 2.7, or before version 2.1.  Other than that,
  13.     it will work happily with any version of COM-AND.
  14.  
  15.      o    Run instructions and installation procedures will be found following
  16.     this page.

  18.      o    Any problems reported to the developer either through the U.S.
  19.     Mail or PLINK Mail or GEnie Mail will receive attention.  You may

  76. 1)    Set your current subdirectory to the subdirectory where you wish
  77.     to install CCHESS... where you've already installed version 1.0
  78.     (if you have it)... where you've installed COM-AND (if you have).
  79.  
  80. 2)    Dearc the distribution file.

  82. 3)    Load CCHESS 'piggyback' (for installation purposes), i.e.:

  84.     C> CCHESS/P <return>

  86.     .  Check Alt-S
  87.        .. If "Text Lines" is 2, set it to 10.  Unless you want 2...
  88.        .. Remember to save the new settings.

  90.        .. Choose the COM port you use (1/2/3/4).
  91.        .. Default speed selection is not important if you always use
  92.           the COM-AND or load CCHESS piggyback.  But set it anyway.

  113. o    Hercules mode has been corrected to work with a broader range of
  114.     Hercules clones (BIOS recursion has been accomodated).

  116. o    Piggyback mode now correctly restores comm interrupts and settings.
  117.     This was not a problem per se, with most comm programs... but now
  118.     it works as intended (and PRO-YAM doesn't complain).

  137.     COM-AND was originally released with Version 2.0 of PC-VCO.  COM-AND
  138.     is a fully functional communications program, designed to support
  139.     integrated 'accessory' programs like CCHESS.
  140.

  142.     COM-AND supports multiple dialing directories, multiple macro
  143.     definition files, a powerful script language, Windowed XMODEM,
  144.     XMODEM, YMODEM (BBS style), Batch-YMODEM, CIS-B, CIS Quick-B,
  145.     KERMIT, and Super KERMIT.

  148.     COM-AND is being distributed (its ninth release) as CA28-1.ZIP
  149.     (executable), CA28-2.ZIP (documents), CA28-3.ZIP (scripts), and
  150.     CA28-4.ZIP (advanced script programming.  COM-AND requires 384k,
  151.     DOS 2.0 or above.  COM-AND may be used on either MDA, CGA, EGA
  152.     or Hercules adapters.

  156. Related release; PC-VCO:

  159.     PC-VCO is Visual Conferencing for the IBM PC.  It is completely
  160.     compatible with all three flavors of MacIntosh VCO/VMCO.  It has
  161.     been in use for more than a year by several groups of people.  On
  162.     GEnie, the IBM RT has a regularly scheduled VCO conference every
  163.     Wednesday at 9PM Eastern Standard Time.

  166.     The concept of VCO is that each conference attendee draws a set of
  167.     16 (or 18) ICONs, and posts them publically.  Other attendees down-
  168.     load the ICONs (called face files), and add them to their own lib-
  169.     rary of faces.    8 (or 9) expressions (happy, sad, etc) are supported.
  170.     When someone speaks in a VCO conference, the appropriate ICON is
  171.     displayed on all PC-VCO screens.  People who've not uploaded face
  172.     files are depicted as Charlie Brown, Don Martin, or OPUS.

  175.     PC-VCO interfaces to a public domain text-to speech synthesizer.
  176.     The quality is less than might be desired, but its a start!

  179.     PC-VCO is being distributed (its seventh release) as PC-VCO22.ZIP.
  180.     PC-VCO may be used on either CGA, EGA or Hercules graphics adapters.

  189.     CBRIDGE is Conference Bridge - four people can play bridge over
  190.     PLINK's PARTY, CIS CB, etc.  CBRIDGE deals cards, displays hands,
  191.     displays (and protects) the bidding, and monitors game play.
  192.     Bidding can be reviewed at any time, as can game play.

  195.     Version 1.1 is a proven accessory.  [Version 1.0 was released as a
  196.     beta.]    It may be 'rough' in spots...  I am looking for comments,
  197.     criticisms and thoughts from those interested in on-line interactive
  198.     gaming.

  210.     CCOLOR is another accessory for conferencing.  It tracks the conver-
  211.     sation, and assigns different colors to each speaker.  Each speaker's
  212.     text is highlighted and easy to see.  Of course, a color adapter,
  213.     CGA or EGA is required.  It has to be seen to be appreciated!
